Album Review: Speaker for the Dead – So This Is Human Life EP [Glitch-Hop//Bass]

Speaker for the Dead - So This Is Human Life

I know I’ve been anticipating this for some time now, and Speaker for the Dead has truly delivered. His new So This Is Human Life EP delves into some of the freshest glitch-hop beats that have yet to meet our ears. The mini album features four new tracks, all bassy and dancey, but each in a totally different way. It’s really difficult to bind this EP to a single genre, because the reality is that it surveys a wide variety of bass music subsidaries. “Neon Kicks” and “So This Is Human Life” are pretty hard and heavy bass tunes, with a pretty dark undertone that creeps its way through the tracks; while, “Rainbow Drops” pretty much describes its sound with the title, a more upbeat and groovy tune; and finally “Gray Ghosts” brings the tempo down to a very minimal feel, before launching a wall of bass at you somewhat unexpectedly. The album is available through Ill Pill Records on both Beatport and iTunes today! Be sure to give it a listen over, and as always, enjoy!!
