Tipper – “Gulch” + Forward Escape (New Album) Preview [Trip-Hop//Downtempo]

It’s been a bit of a rough year for Tipper. After a heart condition became visible this last Summer, the UK music genius underwent open heart surgery later in the fall. However the music community bonded together in a way we seem to always do when someone is in need. After the release of The Dusty Bubble Box EP, featuring three new VIP mixes of already released tracks, the community pushed a massive amount toward helping Dave Tipper afford his hospital bills. After a bit of recovery time, we were all relieved to see Tipper return to show lineups, and now festival lineups as well.

As if his recovery wasn’t good enough news in itself, Tipper also recently unveiled some other extra special news: the approaching release of a new album. The record, titled Forward Escape, is set for a May 5th release. With a producer as diverse as Tipper, it’s always a guessing game as to what his new work might undertake. The man has approached electronic music via ambient, downtempo, hip-hop, dubstep, drum & bass, glitch-hop, and others all in between. However, with the release of a new single, “Gulch”, and full album preview, which you can hear HERE, it seems this album will focus once again on a downtempo and trip-hop sound. The new single is dark and mysterious, the rhythm pattern slightly askew. The album preview provides brief glimpses into a slew of new material that seems to all be held under the same light. May 5th is going to be a great day.

You can also catch Tipper performing not one, but TWO sets at Infrasound 2014!!
