Dubstep has certainly undergone a series of transformations over the years. It started deep and subtle, growing more aggressive over the years. Lately, producers seem to have settled into a comfortable in-between, finding a heavy, grinding bass sound that manages to avoid getting too much in your face. Megalodon is demonstrating this with his new mix for UK label Never Say Die Records, twisting his newest mix full of bass heavy-hitters that still call attention to a more intelligent and composed sound.
Coming back to our Philly boys, redHat has an epic new mix for us as well this week. The local producer is always giving off a peculiar vibe of glitchy beats, delving into breakcore, jungle, juke and other twitchy rhythms. This latest one is a recording of a live mix redHat recently recorded in Oakland.
If the darkness is able to suck you in, be sure to keep an eye on redHat here in Philadelphia. He’ll be bringing his twisted grooves to Super Collider III at Underground Arts on Friday, October 3rd. Full event details HERE.

Little is known about upcoming Firepower Records producer Bear Grillz. The one thing we do know though is this guy certainly knows how to get down with some heavy bass. Having collaborated with some of Firepower’s finest, Bear Grillz has tackled a range of hard-hitting dance rhythms. He returns today with a new mix to show us just how bad he is behind the decks as well.
One of the (relatively) newer acts to Circus Records, London trio The McMash Clan has demonstrated an uncanny ability to tackle almost any dance genre since we first caught wind of them. The three-piece DJ/production group has taken on everything from dubstep, to glitch-hop, to electro, and beyond. This week they return with a brand new minimix for Circus, lathering it up with tons of massive bass tunes from many of our favorite producers.
