The title of Thriftwork‘s newest album, “Fade”, could not be more appropriate. Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, and now based out of California, Jake Atlas (aka Thriftworks) returns with some of his most spaced out and peculiar beats to date. The new album is part of a three-part release, which will occur over the next month- with the second album, “Fader”, seeing a November 17th release, and the final part, “Fadest”, hitting charts December 1st.
“Fade” provides a vast exploration of the electronic music spectrum, touching on elements of glitch, downtempo, trip-hop, ambient, and hip-hop. Thriftworks manages to keep his own sound vividly alive through his production, at the same still refining what’s already existed and applying new ideas. The compositions seem to trudge through a thick fog of atmospheric layers. The name “Fade” matches the feeling that the album will leave washing over you as you sink back into your couch or computer chair.
