We’ve yet to feature any music from Denver producer Rygol, that is, under that title. Even if you aren’t familiar with the name, if you’re a frequent Funkadelphia follower, some of the production techniques and sound work might sound faintly familiar. That’s because Rygol is also one half of the more recently formed power duo, FunkStatik (who’s debut EP we featured last Spring).
Plenty of future funk and electro soul influence can certainly still be felt in Rygol’s latest remix. The track (as well as Rygol’s other works) actually provide a pretty good perspective of Rygol’s involvement and influence in the FunkStatik project.
Furthermore, Rygol flexes a mental muscle of musical prowess and understanding with this one, carrying the track through an ongoing, steady progression- and refraining from obvious loops. The remix picks itself up on a crunchy, and very funky, guitar line. The first half of the song continues to rely heavily on natural instrumentation. Then then breakdown lets loose, and while the guitar grooves continue, they’re quickly lost in waves of glitch-inspired waves of bass.
