With Rhode Island producer Levitation Jones set to infiltrate Philadelphia for the first time this month, we thought it would be a good idea to get inside this young, up-and-coming producer’s head.
Levitation Jones is gaining momentum, not just throughout the North East, but all across the country, and rapidly. He recognizes his own rigid, bass-driven format, but also recognizes the potential faults and ploys of the genre.
“[My production] is all very dark, but somehow very pretty.”
He isn’t looking to take a singular approach, neither through production, nor live performance. Noting that many fans are quick to classify him under future bass, Levitation Jones points out that he really spins a variety of electronic music.
This influence shows through in his production as well. There’s a distinctive sound that Levitation Jones carves out for himself in his production style, but that style never reaches a monotonous point. Every new piece of work looks to dig into new perspectives, resulting in constantly original, interesting production.
This April, Levitation Jones sets his eyes not only on Philadelphia, but the entire East Coast. Embarking with Baltimore producer Soohan on his Made In Baltimore tour, Levitation Jones will touch down in Philadelphia at Kung Fu Necktie on Wednesday, April 15th. The show will also feature Funkadelphia artist Cheatcode.
