Nestled in the hills and forests of beautiful West Virginia is one of jam music’s most rapidly growing events. Mad Tea Party Jam, now in its 4th year, returns to Hedgesville, West Virginia on the weekend of June 18th-21st. Featuring headliners Dopapod, Rising Appalachia, The Werks, Turkuaz, Consider the Source, Tauk, and Earphunk, the music promised to be intertwined in the forests of Mad Tea Party Jam this year is sure to be nothing short of breathtakingly phenomenal. Multiple sets from a majority of not just the festival’s headliners, but all of its performers, sets the stage (or stages, more accurately) for a weekend jam-packed with everything from psychedelic to funktastic to electronically-infused, crunchy rhythms. Joining the already stead-fast list of headliners is a staggering list of supporting artists, including The Mantras, The Heavy Pets, DELTAnine, The Royal Noise, Bunk Buddha, Aqueous, Broccoli Samurai, and SOOHAN; and that’s just to name a few.
Curated by Appalachian Jamwich, The Mad Tea Party experience goes far beyond its impressive culmination of musical acts, however. An equally talented group of visual artists- including Bryan Bailey, Will Shanklin, Annie Kyla Bennett, and Tom Reed– will also hold a firm spot in the weekend’s celebration, letting their tools spill on to canvas in the festival’s monumental gallery, as well as selected artists joining bands on the main stage. Brilliant fire troupes and nimble aerial performers will further immerse on-lookers with their acrobatics.
It’s not just the artists that this luscious festival encourages to be involved, though. With daily workshops, and nightly costume contests, every Mad Tea Party patron is thoroughly encouraged to escalate their and everyone around them’s experience to even further levels.
