Coming off a hugely successful summer of 2015, wrapping out the season with an appearance at Midsummer Night’s Dream in Philadelphia, PA alongside Tauk and Random Rab, local group Wax Future is kicking off the fall with equal force. The Philadelphia trio- consisting of Connor Hansell (production, bass), Keith Wadsworth (guitar), and Gralin Hughes (visual production)- is finally ready to unveil their latest creation: the Keep the Memories EP.
After finishing as the runner-ups for this year’s festival performance contest from The Untz with the EP’s title track, Wax Future then returned to premier the EP’s official debut single: “New Funk City” last week. Soonafter, they followed with an official single release for “Keep the Memories” on RaverRafting.com, further amplifying the anxious murmurs toward the release. Completing the album with four additional never-before-released tracks, the Keep the Memories EP far surpasses the quality of audio aromas we’ve already come to expect from musical team.
Already Wax Future has showcased an original vision, pitting live guitar and bass atop seemingly endless layers of synthesizer atmospheres, forming a live production and instrumental duo performance that truly stands alone. With their latest EP however, Wax Future polishes their sound to a whole new level of sleekness. Every chime and tone is warm enough to wrap yourself in, the drums are precise and persistent, Wadsworth lends plenty of edgy guitar to suit, and Hansell’s bass playing rounds out each composition with funky perfection.
