Jackson Whalan & Rasp 5 – “Save Yours” | Name Your Price

by Kyle Taylor |

I’ll be the first to admit that hip hop isn’t my first genre of choice. It’s not that I don’t like it. In fact, I love hip hop… when it’s done well. But sometimes it can be extremely tiresome having to trudge through countless artists and tracks only to find artificial noise. Luckily we have people like Jackson Whalan and Rasp 5 to save us from such treachery. These two New York artists have collaborated numerous times and the result is always pure gold. They truly make the search for good hip hop an enchantingly simple task.

The new collaboration, “Save Yours”, kicks off with a booming modern bass music inspired beat. It’s funky and a little off-beat, giving the song a unique feel while shedding some much needed originality on hip hop. Coming from two white kids on the block, these two get straight to it spitting with hypnotic aggression and passion. The beat is on point, the flow is on point, the lyrical content is on point. There is absolutely nothing here to critique or criticize. This is how hip hop should be.

Jackson Whalan will be performing right here in Philadelphia on October 16th at North Star BarGet more info and tickets HERE.
