Jake Atlas, better known as Thriftworks, transcends genres to achieve a truly unique sound that captivates the listener’s ear. With new music constantly being released, and a discography that stretches wide across the emotional spectrum of music, there is not doubt that Thriftworks will have one of the most immersive and mesmerizing sets of Infrasound 2016. Influenced by Fresno hip-hop producer, Hunchback Esquire, and several Brainfeeder artists, including Flying Lotus himself, Atlas’ signature sound can be described as culmination of the eerie and the uplifting, the old and the new, welded together with a spectrum of synthetic and sampled melodies, and surrounded by swung percussive rhythms.
Atlas’ most recent release was a seven track EP titled, Low Speed High Drag, that truly captures the production virtuosity and musical talent behind his music, as well as featuring Russ Liquid and Blap Deli. This album Followed up his 3-album concept release of Fade, Fader, and Fadest, this series is filled with peculiar sampling, entrancing synthesis, and production techniques that make you leave each track on repeat. The future looks bright for Thriftworks, as he has become a standard name on festival lineups, as well as nationwide concerts year round.
